Kanyakumari: Flood warnings have been issued for Kanyakumari district due to cyclone Tauk tae in the Arabian Sea.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu are experiencing heavy rainfall in the wake of the cyclone. The Central Water Resources Department has issued a flood warning for Kanyakumari district due to the flood situation.
Further, the district administration has been instructed to take precautionary measures such as shifting people in low lying areas elsewhere.
The deep depression in the south-east Arabian Sea strengthened further and developed into a storm on Saturday morning. The cyclone is moving northwest and crossing the coast in Gujarat on the 18th.
The cyclone will be named ‘Tauk tae’ provided by Myanmar. The storm could bring winds of 150-160 kmph. Due to the cyclone, the impact of the cyclone will be on Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat, the IMD said.
