Four persons arrested in connection with the drug attack on a night-time doctor at Tanjore Medical College Hospital in connection with the drug attack by the youths were jailed under the Prevention of Goondas Act.
Raghavan (27) belongs to Thanjavur Melavanikarastreet Madheswaran (18) hailed from Potalagudikkad near Orathanadu. The two are friends. Both of them, last Apr. On the night of 9th, they had left Orathanadu and were returning home from Thanjavur on a two-wheeler.
Raghavan and Madheswaran were injured when they fell from a two-wheeler when they came to Thanjavur Tholkalikar Square area. They were joined by their colleagues M Raghavan (26) of Vandikarastreet and R Ramachandran (22) of Saidhambalpuram, Thanjavar. They were taken to the Accident Emergency Department for treatment at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
At that time, trainee doctor Arun Pandian, who was on duty, asked the injured how the accident happened and where the body was in pain. Madheswaran, R Raghavan, M Raghavan and Ramachandran had a dispute with Arun Pandian and tried to attack him. On a complaint filed by the doctor in this regard, the medical college police registered a case and arrested the four persons.
As per the recommendations of the District Superintendent of Police to jail the four arrested persons under the Prevention of Goondas Act, the four persons were lodged in Trichy Central Jail today (May 04) as per the orders of Thanjavur District Collector M Govindrao.
