Oil and Gas PSU are establishing 100 medical oxygen plants in hospitals to produce oxygen from airborne nitrogen and directly supply it to hospital patients. The Oil and Gas Public Sector Undertakings, which are under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, are actively working during this period of need to meet the liquid medical oxygen requirements of the country.
With the guidance of Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, they are establishing about 100 PSA Medical Oxygen Plants in Public Health Centers across the country. Oxygen plants are being established in hospitals in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi under this scheme. The total cost will be incurred under the Corporate Social Responsibility Fund.
Different productive plants are being established in hospitals with 200 to 500 beds. DRDO and CSIR have provided the technology for these procedure. Oxygen is produced with nitrogen in the air and supplied directly to the patients in the hospital.
Orders for oxygen production centers have been placed with Indian companies. Some of these will start functioning from this month onwards. All work will be completed by July.
