Thanjavur: Remdesivir is considered to be an important medicine in treating corona patients. There are complaints that the drug is being sold at many times more prices on black markets as it is scarce. The Government of Tamil Nadu is taking serious steps to prevent this.
In Thanjavur, some people complained to the police that they were selling Remdesivir at a high price on the black market. Civil Supplies, CID Inspector of Police Kottasamy and Assistant Inspector Sangeetha conducted an inquiry.
In this, it was reported that some people were trying to sell Remdesivir near Dandex Rundana. Accordingly, police visited the spot on Tuesday and caught three suspicious people.
It was revealed that Kishore Kumar (20) of Vanjur in Karaikal district, who works as a nurse in a private hospital near Thanjavur’s new bus stand, his friends Christopher (20), son of Tanislas of Michaelpatti in Udayarpalayam mela in Ariyalur district, and Loganathan’s son Karthik (20) of Thanjavur Gnanam nagar.
Police seized 7 vials of Remdesivir from them. Kishore Kumar has tried to take these medicines from the private hospital where he works and sell them on the black market. With the price of a bottle at Rs 1,500, it was revealed that he tried to sell it outside for Rs 23,000.
Subsequently, the three were handed over to the Medical College Police Station by the Civil Supplies CID. The medical college police station registered a case and arrested Kishore Kumar, Christopher and Karthik.
