The first session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly will begin at 10 am today at Kalaivanar Stadium, Chennai. The newly elected MLAs will be sworn in by Acting Leader of the Legislative Assembly K Pichandi.

The DMK took power with a simple majority in the just concluded assembly elections. Dmk president M.K. Stalin and 33 ministers were sworn in along with him. Minister Durai Murugan has been appointed as the Leader of the Legislative Assembly and Mr. Vidaimarudur MLA Govi Cheliyan has been appointed as the Whip of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Accordingly, Kilpennathur MLA K Pichandi, who was appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Council, was sworn in at Guindy Raj Bhavan in Chennai yesterday morning. Chief Minister Mk Stalin, Durai Murugan, I Periyasamy and Other Ministers and Legislative Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan participated in the function in the presence of Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Following this, K Pichandi, who arrived at the secretariat, told reporters later, “The Legislative Assembly meeting will begin at 10 am on Chew Sunday (today). First, Chief Minister Mk Stalin and his successors will be sworn in. Later, the MLAs will be sworn in in alphabetical order. Those who are unable to participate in the Corona infection will be sworn in on another day.


The election to the Speaker and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly will be held tomorrow after the swearing-in of the MLAs.
