Thoothukudi: On the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the shooting, people across the district are paying tributes to the photographs of the deceased by laying flowers and lighting candles.
On the 3rd anniversary of the shooting, 1,200 police personnel have been deployed in Thoothukudi and intensive security has been put in place. Earlier, a meeting was held at the District Superintendent of Police office yesterday to discuss the security arrangements to be taken up in Thoothukudi district.
At the meeting, the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued a full curfew under the 144 Criminal Investigation Procedure Act to control the spread of coronavirus and prohibitory orders for any public to gather or come out without essential necessities.
It was also decided that 1200 police personnel including 6 Additional Superintendents of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 55 Police Inspectors will be deployed from Nellai, Kumari, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Theni, Dindigul, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts in Thoothukudi district today (Saturday).
As the third anniversary of the incident is being observed today, the anti-Sterlite team has thanked the Tamil Nadu government for issuing new work orders to the victims of the incident for their educational qualifications.
